Alright so here it is, my blog! (Ok maybe thats more exciting for me than it is for you, but I am going to try my hardest to get you as excited dammit.) Although this is a “travel” based blog or a blog about places as I like to call it, I have another love that I wanted to be sure to include, personal style. I have loved fashion and style and the ability to express ourselves through what we wear since I was little. Alright maybe when I was little I didn’t realize I was expressing myself, but you get the idea. So although this will be an underlying theme, I wanted to share this part of myself as well. Now I am starting out simple here. I love black, like LOVE it. Most days I’m wearing something black. In fact, you will rarely see me in color, just a lover of neutrals I guess. So I figured I would start with an all black post. I put my favorite black staple pieces together for this simple any-day fall outfit.
The best thing about this outfit, every piece is very affordable. I went on a serious search for great high waisted, wide-leg black jeans. (I feel like all I want to wear right now is high waisted, wide-leg pants..) That being said, if I have a staple piece that I really want, I am usually willing to spend more than I should on it. So after a really unfortunate incident with being perfectly in between sizes in some Free People pants I had my eye on, I found myself walking somberly to H&M and the first thing inside the door?? High waisted, wide leg, black jeans. And they are perfect! The fabric is thick and comfy but not too thick to where it becomes unflattering. AND they are wonderfully stretchy so you can wear them all day and they still look awesome when its over. The only bad thing about these pants is they are not available online it seems, but please go check out your local H&M, they’re are definitely a recent in-store item. (I have also linked some sweet Free People options below.)
The sweater is another awesome find- have you heard of VICI ? If not, definitely check it out. Everything on there isn’t entirely my style but they have a lot of super versatile styles for really great prices and I can vouch that the quality is really nice too. This sweater is SO SOFT, like so much softer than I was expecting, I could honestly sleep in it. The v-neck is technically the “back” but it is made to be worn either way, another plus.
Last but not least, the hat. A couple years ago I remember dreaming of the perfect felt hat, the kind with a completely flat brim, none of that floppy stuff. And it was SO HARD to find, unless you had 300 bones to drop on a hat, which I did not. Living in New York on that free-lance fashion merchandising assistant “salary” doesn’t leave much room for expensive non-essentials. Enter ASOS. Our reasonably priced hero. I found this hat for 23 bucks! It has a adjustable strap inside which actually works, so it can fit a variety of peeps. Now because this style has trickled down, it has become much more accessible but I still highly recommend ASOS, especially if you are looking for a nice quality at a low cost 🙂 and if cost doesn’t matter too much, check out my favorite Australian hat makers over at Lack of Color. (they run around $100)

Thanks so much for checking out my very first outfit post 😉 It only gets better from here.
